Am I missing an easy way to see total troop counts in a village? Using both the 'units' button and the 'overview' button, I only see the total that are currently in the city.

You can actually see it in the overview, you just have to activate the filters. You have to add them yourself though, if you want to know the sum of them. Here's how:
