Lost 100 rams vs only Wall lvl20

Hi,
I send an attack on a inactive player to farm him, but I lost all my rams with only a wall lvl 20 in defence, and only few other unit.
I fight only with 42%, but I don't expected to lose all my rams...

You must always send your siege weapons accompanied with infantry units, otherwise they will always be destroyed.

And how many infantry need to be send with?
