Balancing Update II

Hello Tribal Warriors!

On Friday, November 20th we will update all beta realms with version 1.35. This version is also known as Balancing Update II and will introduce vast balancing changes. The first stage of this update is to test if merging all changes will cause any problem. The balancing changes will only be enabled on Monday, November 23rd, however.

Stage two is planned for next Tuesday, November 24th. On that day we will crown and reward the winners of Sandbox and reset the realm, so you can test the effect of the balancing changes with a fresh account. We are looking forward to your feedback.

We have also added some community suggestions in this update. Thanks a lot for these awesome ideas!

Balancing Changes (will be enabled on November 23rd)

Faster Recruitment
The recruitment times have been cut immensely to allow players getting their troops faster and encourage attacking each other more often. The original recruitment times stated below are the base values. Keep in mind that those have been reduced by more than 60% with Barracks level 1 already.
  • Spearman: 90 seconds (down from 840 seconds)
  • Swordsman: 120 seconds (down from 1200 seconds)
  • Axe Fighter: 150 seconds (down from 1320 seconds)
  • Archer: 180 seconds (down from 1500 seconds)
  • Light Cavalry: 360 seconds (down from 2100 seconds)
  • Mounted Archer: 450 seconds (down from 2400 seconds)
  • Heavy Cavalry: 600 seconds (down from 3200 seconds)
  • Ram: 480 seconds (down from 4800 seconds)
  • Catapult: 450 seconds (down from 7200 seconds)
  • Trebuchet: 480 seconds (down from 1800 seconds)
  • Berserker: 480 seconds (down from 1800 seconds)

Adjusted Construction
The building times and costs have been adjusted to allow a more fluent flow in your game experience. Early in the game you will be able to construct your buildings a lot faster while at a later stage in the game buildings will be more expensive and will take longer to upgrade.
This change will make the game more accessible without losing its strategic depth in mid and endgame phases.

New Quest Lines
The quests have been fully overhauled to accompany the building and unit changes introduced with this update. All quests are now more story driven and focus on helping players with each game feature more thoroughly. The quest lines have been taylored for new players to learn the game more efficiently.
Furthermore, the Resource Deposit and Second Village features will only be displayed on your map as soon as you have reached respective stages in the new quest lines, so new players are not overwhelmed with additional features.

Headquarters and Barracks
A lot of players didn't understand (or weren't even aware) of the construction and recruitment time reductions the Headquarters and Barracks had to offer. This functionality is way too complex which is why we have chosen to remove these functions from the Headquarters and Barracks. Building and recruitment times have been adjusted and are now easier to read.
However, we still like having options to reduce recruitment times for your troops. In a future update, we will address this by implementing a few new Barracks technologies that will allow you to recruit your units even faster.

Hospital Beds
The Hospital will get significantly more expensive with this update, but its value will also increase a lot. In this update the capacity for your Hospital will be changed to 1000 beds on max. level (up from 300). Saving your units will now become more attractive.

We also feel that Sabotage missions can get lucky and remove your Homeguard technology instantly if the Tavern becomes an early target of enemy Spies. We will address this issue in a future update and move Homeguard to Tavern level 14, so you will have an entire Tavern level to protect this technology from being sabotaged.

New Feature

  • For new players, Tribal Wars 2 can be very overwhelming. We have implemented hints for players that will guide them to focus on important things like not having an empty unit or building queue, leaving items in their inventory unused, or reminding them about the Resource Deposit and the Second Village.

Community Suggestions

  • We have seen this community idea a while ago and thought that this would really be useful for everybody. You will now be able to see the units in your village followed by a second number in your Barracks which will display the total amount of units in your village including all queued units.

  • Another community suggestion has inspired us to improve the Mass Donation screen. First of all we have added a 'Check all' checkbox, so you can easily select all your villages. Furthermore, you will now be able to filter your villages by groups as well.
  • As righteously demanded by our community, attacked support reports will now also let you know where you can find your attacked supporting units.
  • We also heard that you want the Tribe chat icon to be more visible. You got it! We have also improved the visibility when there are new messages in the chat by adding a number to the icon in the same fashion as messages and reports work in the menu bar.

  • Another awesome community suggestion has made it into this update. Applied filters are now properly saved for each of your overviews, so you won't have to set them up anew all the time.
  • Some of you also wanted to get an information when you are about to attack your own troops (as they might be supporting a village you don't remember). We have implemented this.

Improvements

  • We think that donating Crowns should have more value, therefore we have roughly doubled all Tribe experience gained when donating Crowns.
  • Until now it was very frustrating to get a legendary roll of defensive units as a Daily Unit Deal in your off village, becaue a reroll would also reroll the legendary tier of the roll. We have improved this, so the tier is now remembered and only the unit type is rerolled instead. It is still possible to improve the tiers. So, an epic tier roll can become a legendary one!
  • New milestones have been added to the Resource Deposit. There are now 6 milestones available. You will now be able to collect more rewards!

  • We have also improved the layout which displayes the errands in your Resource Deposit.

  • The limitation of running commands per village can no longer be abused by the enemy, because returning support is now ignored by this limitation.
  • All buttons that are linked to premium features and require you to pay Crowns have now been consistently highlighted in a different design if you have a free item to use for corresponding feature instead. This way you won't be missing out on free options anymore!

  • You will now be able to find your Resource Deposit and Second Village in the Village List.

  • If you don't have an officer of a certain type, you will now see this more easily in your attack screen.
  • The Coop disclaimer has been made more visible, so players will read what they will share through this feature.
  • You will now get notified if your Second Village is about to expire soon.

Bug Fixes

  • If a player has been deleted as a Coop partner, he or she will no longer be able to log into corresponding account.
  • Full loot reports will now display the correct loot icon again.
  • When deleting an entire page of reports, the page buttons will no longer get misplaced.
  • When trying to restart on a realm without entering your password will now trigger the proper error message.
  • A large amount of recruitment orders in the queue will no longer break the format of the Village Overview.
  • Some in-game icons have been fixed.
  • Some translations have been fixed.

Thank you very much for your support and bug reports. Give us your feedback in this discussion thread.

Sincerely,
The Tribal Wars 2 Team
