Unread messages

Unread messages are not working properly. I've tried to find a trend, but that has been difficult. Currently if I view a post it doesn't always go unread. If I create a post it sometimes shows as unread. Please help me understand what information i can provide to fix this bug.

Although all my messages are read or deleted, I still have a count of 2 unread (this comes from 2 releases back if I remember well: when deleting a message that you did not read, it would keep the count of "unread message" in the bottom menu, instead of resetting it to zero).
