Point of Kingdoms

I was reading about the differences between TW1 and TW2. The wiki said that rivers were THE borders of kingdoms. I went to see my ranking in the kingdom. I ranked pretty high and it did not show players who were way higher up the food chain 4+ provinces away. So are rivers the only dividers of kingdoms? This being false is only thing that would make sense of my ranking high and players being excluded.

The Wiki state that the Kingdoms are separated by rivers but the Provinces are separated by a border of small stones. If you click on the LANDMARK in your province it will give you province ranking etc... But not Kingdom.

I found that Kingdoms are not only separated by rivers but can have land borders.
